Our Services

We believe that most low-risk pregnant women can give birth naturally with minimal to no intervention. However, we will coordinate physician consultations and referral services for women that become high risk.

Comprehensive Maternity Care

Choosing a midwife-attended birth has many advantages for the expectant mother. A midwife offers personalized attention throughout the pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum period. Prenatal appointments are long enough to provide education and encourage discussion. Midwives expect parents to be informed about their care and give special attention to each woman's personal birth preferences. Pregnancy and birth are individual, so your care should be as well.

  • We recognize every pregnancy is different, and prenatal care is critical to a healthy pregnancy. That is why our regular prenatal appointments will last about an hour. We want to get to know you and your family, listen to your concerns, and answer your questions. Husbands, partners, and little ones are welcome and encouraged to join you at your appointments.

Every appointment will include time for education on necessary pregnancy and birth topics, exploring options, and discussing upcoming decisions. We will discuss what is happening with you and the baby and review lab results or diagnostic tests. We will check your vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, weight), listen to the baby's heartbeat, measure the baby's growth, and perhaps check the baby's position. We will discuss any concerns or wishes and work together to honor your desires for your pregnancy and birth. All questions are welcome, and we encourage you to let us know of any concerns.

We will visit once a month until 28 weeks of pregnancy, every two weeks until about 36 weeks, and then weekly until your baby is born. One of the midwife's most essential roles is to support the mother and her family.

  • For Community-Based Births, our mothers play the lead role in the unfolding of their labor and birth and are encouraged to eat, drink, and change positions often. Midwives know how to support women through normal, healthy births. Women who trust and listen to their bodies will naturally seek out safe, quiet places to give birth. Surrounded by people you love and trust, your body will release hormones that allow you to let go and open to give birth.

While attending your home or birth center birth, the midwife will carefully evaluate the mother's vital signs and the baby's heart rate using a handheld doppler throughout labor, and vaginal exams are done only when needed. All the emergency equipment for mom and baby is in the birth room next to the mother.

Upon delivery, the baby is placed on the mother's chest for warmth and bonding; there is no rush to cut the cord. A complete newborn exam is performed at the bedside after the mother has had the opportunity to breastfeed and bond with the baby.

For Hospital Birth, mothers will go to the hospital when ready to be admitted for labor. If you choose, the midwife or doula can accompany you to the hospital to provide physical and emotional support. All records will be sent over to the hospital of choice at 37 weeks gestation.

  • Laboring and birthing in water can be one of the most relaxing and comforting measures in labor. We offer water birth options at home birth or birth center birth.

  • Postpartum care is one of the aspects that makes midwifery care unique. The hours, days, and weeks after birth are full of wondrous changes for you and your newborn. Therefore, we will do a follow-up visit at 48 hours in your home and then at two weeks and six weeks. These visits give us a chance to connect and monitor your healing, breastfeeding needs, baby's growth, and emotional well-being and help with your family planning needs.

Sneek Peek Gender Reveal Test

Now you can know as early as eight weeks the gender of your baby.

This non-invasive blood test screens for male DNA in the mother's blood. If male chromosomes are found, the baby is a boy. If no male chromosomes are found, the baby is a girl.

The test is 99.1% accurate, and results are returned as early as the next day.
